Landscape Design & Build for Atlas Concrete’s New Takapuna Headquarters
GreensceneNZ Landscapes is proud to have delivered the complete landscape design and build for the new Atlas Concrete Headquarters in Takapuna—a landmark development led by JWA Architects and CMP Construction. The project stands as a testament to innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship, bringing together thoughtful architecture and resilient landscape design.
From the early stages of resource consent through to the final phases of planting, our team collaborated closely with the wider project group to shape outdoor spaces that reflect Atlas Concrete’s forward-thinking ethos and strong connection to the Auckland region. Our involvement encompassed a comprehensive landscape package, including design strategy, material palettes, indicative plant schedules, podium systems, and guidance in support of the project’s Green Star aspirations.
The new headquarters showcases Atlas Concrete’s leadership in low-embodied-carbon concrete technologies—and the landscape echoes that commitment. Podium lawns, lightweight media garden beds, and carefully integrated drainage systems were designed to ensure both rooftop and ground-level spaces operate efficiently while offering lush, welcoming greenery for staff and visitors.
More than 500m² of planting was sourced and installed, featuring specimen trees, palms, mixed shrubs, climbers, and groundcovers. Every species was selected for longevity, resilience, and rich texture. High-quality soils, mulches, and amendments were used throughout, supported by a fully automated irrigation system to ensure the landscape thrives from day one.
Craftsmanship is evident from concept to completion and as a design/build provider, GreensceneNZ Landscapes delivered hands on expertise across every stage of construction—from detailed working drawings and plant procurement to on-site observation and coordination with specialist suppliers. The result is an elevated outdoor environment that softens the building’s bold architectural lines, enhances everyday amenity for staff, and anchors the headquarters within its coastal industrial setting.
